This seasonal series is one of the artist newest designs: Winter Oyster Mushroom Series! It is inspired by a perfect stack of these edible mushrooms she found in the city of Indianapolis. She wanted to recreate this moment by making this very limited and special edition series. The unique woodgrain texture has a light tan color, one that is seen in the dead vegatation in the Indiana winters. Winter oysters are one of the artist favorite mushrooms to forage in the winter and one of the only edible winter mushrooms. They range in a variety of colors, but she wanted to give them more of a gray blue hue. She created this series because she wanted whomever cherishes one of them to feel like they are right there with her, seeing the most beautiful and perfect stack of winter oyster mushrooms.
The bark texture is created by layers of clay and colorants to create a 3D effect. The mushrooms are individually handcarved and hand glazed as well. The mug is hand-thrown on the potters wheel. Each one is fired in the kiln to 2200 degrees.
Measurements:
6.5 in tall
2.5 in wide (opening)
Sizes and colors may vary due to each one being indivually handmade.
